Shadow Moses Island was once a nuclear weapons disposal facility that was secretly the development location stealthed nuclear warheads. It was controlled by FOXHOUND, the agency of which Solid Snake was once a part of. Inside the base resides the legendary Metal Gear REX, piloted by none other than the infamous Liquid Snake, and it's massive nuclear arsenal. A threatening location that served as the Forward Operating Base for Outer Heaven before being destroyed by an nuclear air strike from the US, dubbed the Shadow Moses Incident.
Stage Appearance
The Shadow Moses of Crusade takes place before the Shadow Moses Incident, atop the main building. Carefully placed railings make getting knocked vertically much harder to do. Occasionally, the legendary Metal Gear REX will rear it's metal head and watch the battle intently, not really doing much else aside from observing. Still, his very presence gives you the feeling that, at any second, you could be nuked to high heavens.
